First let me preface this post with saying "Don't mind the sideways belt". I TOTALLY didn't realize it was sideways until I uploaded these pics, and I am too lazy to take the pics again. the belt is a stretch belt but it is slightly too big for me, so it didn't really define my waist like I wanted.
For some reason I couldn't find my brown shoes, any brown shoe (imagine that!) so I was stuck wearing these mushroom color shoes that seemed to be kind of an off-khaki color. Not quite matching the dress, but I didn't care, I had to get out the house (we were running 20 min late) and they would do....

So don't mind the shoes, don't mind the belt, and PLEASE don't mind the hair. I am still wondering what to do about this mess atop my head. It has gotten too long to really style it, but it is too short to wear long... I'll figure something out....eventually... (Also don't mind the ID badge in the first three pics, I forgot to take it off)

Simple Dashiki Dress

I call this my Dashiki dress, because someone told me they really liked it and how it reminded them of a Dashiki they really wanted but couldn't fit it...Well, I could definitely fit in this dress. The picture doesn't really do it justice because it is a lot more colorful than it looks. But I forgot to take a picture of the design, so you are just going to ramp up your imagination... Still trying to figure out what to do with my hair, I have it pulled back in a sleek pony tail because it wasn't behaving itself.. (like it ever does)... I'll try to figure something out, I might just straighten it for fun...we'll see.

Wearing a Tunic as a Dress...I dared to do it!

I am not really a short skirt kinda girl. I shy away from wearing things that are too sexy, and I wish I didn't. I wish I had the balls to wear some of the stuff other bloggers wear, but I'm just way too conservative. Even today, wearing a tunic as a dress, I still wore it with dark tights, that at first glance, might look like leggings. But still, I dared to go out of my comfort zone a little bit and I enjoyed it.

As you may know, I have (apparently) really large feet. I wear a size 11.5 /12 in shoes, so I (obviously) love shoes...(even though they are hard as hell to find in my size).

Well, what you may not know is two of my favorite gossip websites are mediatakeout.com and perezhilton.com. Today, Perez featured a gallery of celebs with "really" large feet.... (I don't call 9.5 really large, but I digress)... so I decided to put a link to it, just because I am happy that I am not alone and that size 11 and 12 feet aren't all that rare.... Highest Heel and Longest Cardigan

I drew inspiration for this outfit from these shoes I bought from Mysize12.

The brand is The Highest heel, which is ironic because I wore a pretty long cardigan that I got from Igigi. this cardigan doesn't really look right with pants, so I decided to pair it with a black skirt I got from TJ Maxx, a black bodysuit I got from Dorothy Perkins and a black and silver belt to keep it closed. That way, I could wear it almost like a dress.

I pulled my hair back into a slick ponytail so as to not overpower the ruffles on the collar and put on some simple silver and black jewelry.

With the long sleeve bodysuit underneath, this was a very warm outfit. I paired it with my tights from Avenue and I had a nice, sophisticated winter outfit. I even had someone ask me where I shop... Made my day.

Sweater Dress

After my experience with the wind yesterday, I decided to wear something a bit warmer. It was also raining so rather than "slosh" around in rain boots, I thought this a good opportunity to pull out my leather knee boots from Naturalizer.

Again my hair is doing something I don't care for it to do, so ignore it as it so blatantly ignores me. Regardless, I was warm and comfy in this outfit and still felt cute.

Spring Leopard to Winter Leopard

This is actually a spring dress, that I paired with a cardigan. It is pretty thin, so walking into the office I was kinda cold, even though I wore a longer coat. The wind still whipped up my dress and through the holes in the fishnets, so it was a rude awakening, but fashion can be painful sometimes.

I got inspiration for this outfit from these shoes. Aren't they adorable!!

Ironically, my son bought me these leopard earrings for Christmas so I decided to wear those as well, just to have some fun.

Here I am in all my fat glory!! LOL. I am feeling a bit better about myself. Still struggling with self-esteem but nothing a little shopping doesn't help abate temporarily. Torrid had a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale, so I went there and bought some things. Other than that, it was just a slow day.

I decided to wear this jean shirt/dress with a black belt because I wanted to wear black tights and my black comfy flat boots. I wore black jewelry and pulled my hair back in a poofy ponytail. It is nothing spectacular, but I had to start somewhere so why not with todays outfit.... Thanks for sticking with my through my momentarily crisis... I appreciate the kind words and look forward to posting even more outfits in the days and weeks to come.

where have i been... to be honest ive been nowhere...right now i am at my sons swim lesson typing this entry on my phone...ive been contemplating life and myself...ive3 been having some regrets and second thoughts on the beauty of my body. ive gained weight mainly in my stomach and this has caused me great anguish. but even though...now that it is 2012 i dont feel the motivation or need to change. i mean there are ways id like to ch ange like i want to stop beimg over indulgent but im not going to lie and say i am going to start 2waking up at 5 in the morning and go to the gym. 2012 to me is about subtle changes. changes that are good for me but also attainable and sustainable.but my self esteem has taken a hard hit from nothing in particular but myself. and that has made it hard to get dr3essed in the morning and take pictures. i just all the sudden stopped liking or rather appreciating the way i looked. it was hard and it hurt. i even contemplat3d deleting my blog againn but i knew my feelings were only temporary. i think the turning point to when i stopped blogging was i went to a client meeting and went to the bathroom. as i was leaving th3e bathroom i caught a real good glimpse of myself in the full length mirror and my first though t was whoas...i really am fat...for the first time in a long time that f word actually hurt my feelings. i thought i had learned to own it but that day it owned me and it hurt me...that is when i decided to no longer take pictures. i stopped dressing up i stopped caring about my appearance. it was hard. i mean th3 lighting wasnt the best and the mirror that appealing but i still couldnt get over the word fat... i waws fat....i am fat...and it hurt...but with 2012 iv3 decided to own it. i wqant to be healthier but i also dont want to kill myself trying to attain a standard that makes me miserable. i dont know. its just some thinga ive been going through. but i promis3 itll get better. thankw for sticking with mw and your kind words....youll hear from me soon....

Flying Free of Spanx

Today I wore a body con dress, with no spanx!! I just didn't feel like wearing them... I wore a coat when I went out so it wasn't like I was flaunting my belly, but the fact that I didn't wear anything to pull in my belly was kinda exhilarating... hey we all have our little quirks.

I've been wondering about trying a new brand of body shapers just because I hear there are things out there better than spanx. The reason I like Spanx is because my but is not really proportional to my waist, so I need something that stretches where it needs to stretch (my butt) but still holds where it needs to hold (my stomach)... That is why I have to wear mid thigh shapers and can't wear the panty shapers, because the panty shapers end up giving me a wedgie or just don't hold in my stomach enough.

Anyway, that is my story on Spanx. I am actually kinda hesitant to go by some of the reviews i read on blogs, because I know they are being compensated. I am really looking for a true blue review of different body shapers by someone who didn't get them for free or isn't getting compensated by the company to "review" them. So if you have any suggestions of good body shapers, or know of any reviews that don't come with caveats, let me know....

Berry Boots in Backyard

I've worn these boots on several occasions, mainly the weekend, and just never took a picture of them. So I decided since I am shopping my closet, the time is NOW to take a picture of these adoable and comfy boots I got from the Avenue.

I wore them with grey acid washed leggings, and a grey sweatshirt. Nothing spectacular, but considfering it is like 40 degrees outside, and all I'm doing today is running errands, What not?

Since it hasn't rained in a couple days, my backyard wasn't (as) muddy as usually, so I decided to try to take some pictures in different places just to switch up the look of the usual pictures I take...

Where do you take your pictures. Do you take them in front of people or in private places where no one can see you? If you take them in front of people, are you embarrassed? do they stare? Do they ask questions? Let me know your thoughts in the comments...

Summer to Winter Skirt

This is what I wore today. I've worn this skirt once before, HERE. and below

Last time I wore this skirt was Easter 2010..yeah that long. I don't know why, it is a perfectly cute skirt, I just haven't gotten around to wearing it....until today.

I decided to winterize it and tone down the spring-like whiteness of the skirt, but wearing a black sweater pulled down over it. Since the black kind of overpowered the skirt, I decided to add a white belt to brighten it up. I wore black tights and black shoes and let the skirt speak for itself. I like how it turned out. I got a lot of compliments on the skirt. They probably would have liked it even more if it were spring or summer.

I didn't know the best place to take pictures. I think the picture in my "closet" turned out best, but the clothes behind me or distracting so I resorted to taking the pictures back in front of my basement door.

Is there any piece of summer clothing that you've winterized?

Jumpsuit??? The Way It Moves....

For some reason my camera has been taking dark pictures, even when I put the flash on. Perhaps, I am just too far from the camera.

I wanted to wear this velvet blazer, and I also wanted to wear this jumpsuit (is that what they are called? They aren't called pantsuits...perhaps one piece?) Anyway, I decided to brighten up the grey color of the "jumpsuit" by pairing it with a whole bunch of different colors. Blue velvet blazer, yellow belt, purple shoes, colorful necklace... I think it worked. Only thing is the pants legs are a little shorter than I would have preferred, but I dealt with it.

I couldn't decide what picture to post so I just posted them ALL. I just wasn't in the mood for editing..... So sorry for the picture heavy post. I also wanted to show how the pantsuit/jumpsuit moved.

My Thoughts on Eloquii by the Limited

After all the hype that Eloquii by the Limited is getting, I decided to peruse their recently launched site just to see what they had to offer... Let's just say I was not impressed. Everything looks so drab and dark and plain and just not anything different than what I could get at dressbarn for $50 cheaper... The clothes are definitely geared toward a more mature crowd, they definitely don't look young. And in mature, I don';t mean 30's. I;m talking upper 40's and 50's...

One thing that also annoyed me about their "collection" was their coats... They don't have back vents... I have a butt, so I know I need a back vent to make the coat fit me better. I don't know about you guys but that is just one of my pet peeves. Plus the coats are also so drab and old looking.

And this dress has the potential to go wrong in so many ways.. I just can't see someone wearing this dress comfortably with tugging and constantly pulling at it. It's like a sheet with a fabric belt.. Sooo not impressed.

Nothing appealed to me on their site except for these few options, that I am sure EVERYONE who falls for the Eloquii hype is going to get..

First, the dress worn by GabiFresh at the Eloquii launch party.

And this little number, that really wasn't that impressive but when compared to everything else, stood out as the only other thing I would consider buying...

Eloquii is definitely not adding anything to the plus size spectrum of clothing. And they definitely do not seem to be an offshoot of the limited. They seem to be a whole different brand with a whole different constituent in mind. Someone older, who doesn't like bright colors, who works all the time, and doesn't know how to relax, and isn't that into fashion. They want to be able to pull something out of thier closet and have it match with black and go about their way... Definitely not the fatshion community that was hyping the brand so much... SOOO I am pretty disappointed in the outcome and hope that maybe over time they will expand their thinking and realize that color does not equal immaturity...

Black and Blue, not how you'd think

Last time I wore this dress was HERE or rather below.

I still wanted to wear this, but I wanted to darken the blue and white. I thought of perhaps wearing a polka dot cardigan, but I figured that would be dots overload, so I settled on this bolero which I've also worn before HER E and HERE...

As you can guess, ever since I was told I never wear the same thing, and ever since I cleaned out my closet, I realized that I need to shop more in my closet and stop spending. So November is No-Spend Month and Shop In My Closet Month. So no buying new clothes and remixing what I already have... also tearing off some of those tags I haven't taken off yet. So you will be seeing more remixing, at least in November...

Anyway, I decided to darken up the dress, by wearing it with dark colored stockings, but I still wanted to wear my blue shoes, so I thought "the hell with it" and wore my blue shoes anyway. To match the black tights, I decided to throw on a black belth, but to play up the blue I wore a blue sweater. It isn't anything amazing, but I do feel like the pictures don't do the dress justice. I liked how the blue shoes played off of the black tights. Different..

So that is what I wore,... Pretty lengthy speech just to say what I wore, but sometimes I feel like talking...

Bucket List Saturday

Today I didn't go ANYWHERE. I stayed in my P.J.'s and worked on my bucket list... Mainly, organizing my closet(s). yes, plural. Closets....

My hair is a MESS... oh well. It's Saturday, what can I say??

I have a small third room in my house, which would be perfect for a nursery, but since I don't have a baby , I use it as a closet. Good thing I'm single, as I have no clue where my husband would put his clothes...

I organized my real closet by categorizing my clothes, blazers, cardigans, skirts and sleeveless shirts. I didn't realize I have some repeats in my closet, which is pretty bad, so I'm glad this reorganization allows me to take stock of what I have, which is a bit of EVERYTHING.. I definitely think I have too many clothes, so November is "no spend" month. I really don't think I need anything.

So for your viewing pleasure, and just because, here are some random photos of my day....

Inspiration: Leopard and Red

This morning I was inspired by this shoe:

Although I don't possess the above shoe, I surely was lusting after it. Sadly, it doesn't come in my size.

Well, since I can't have it, I can still pay homage to it and where it's color, Red and Leopard.

I had been eyeing this skirt for the longest time. I couldn't find it online, and there was only one left on the rack in Macy*s that was two size too big. I kinda forgot about the skirt, until something took me to Macy*s a few days ago. I don't know why I went because I told myself, I could only buy things I feel like I can't live without. (I mean not really, but you get the point, I can only buy things I really, really, REALLY want)... So I was walking around the aisle in Macy*s and there it was. On the clearance rack...the ONLY one... Dare I even try to see if it is in my size... I flipped down the top to look at the tag and lo and behold!!! It was my size. I quickly snatched it up and took it to the price scanner. It came to be something like $23. I had to get it. So I got it. And today I'm wearing it.

I didn't want to wear the typical black with it, I considered wearing a mustard cardigan, but realized I wore that this week already, so scratched that. Then the above shoe came to mind, and I decided I'd go with red...

It was way too sunny to take pics outside, and I was NOT going to mess up my heels tromping across the muddy yard to get a picture in the shade. So inside pics, in front of my basement door are just going to have to do... I want to figure out if there are any other places for me to take pictures, but I don't think my camera would focus correctly without a focal point in front of it when it begins. I haven't tried, but I will.

Anyway, that is my story for the day. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. It is supposed to rain and storm all weekend in Delaware, so not sure if I will doing any outfit photos. But we'll see.

Soccer Mom Even When It Rains

I am a proud soccer Mom. My son made the first and only goal of the day during his soccer game. They ended up tying 1 to 1, but I was so proud that he was playing so well. He was bit whiny though, because we forgot his lunch at home so he was stuck eating fish and sweet potatoes at school... (insert "eww" here).

I ran home and threw on my go-to jeans, a red cowl neck sweater, my plaid rain coat and my rain boots. Since it was on again off again raining the ground was muddy and I wasn't messing up any of my shoes trying to look cute at a soccer game.

This outfit isn't special in anyway, but I figured I'd still show it, just to prove that I don't wear heels all the time.... Plus I still think it is kinda cute...

I love fall, because that means you can layer. I love layering. I love boots. I love not being sticky hot. Fall is perfect. I used to be in love with spring, until spring stopped being in love with me (read: chub rub). But fall, lets you experiment more with colors. Like colored tights and long sleeve body suits layered under dresses. Funky boots, and warm fun coats.... It is just a fun season, and I am enjoying it...

Pink Chiffon and Brown Leather

*Today was raining outside, so I took my pics inside.*

I just got this skirt from Asos' sale section. I was inspired by Alissa of Stylish Curves, to try out a midi skirt. At first I wasnt too sure about the skirt, but then it started to grow on me, especially after I thrifted this blazer from Goodwill. They seemed to go perfectly together.

I pulled some shoes I've had for years, YEARS I mean probably since I was in college (10 years ago). they have brown pink, mustard yellow and light green and seemed to be the perfect choice for this outfit.

The elastic waistband of the skirt is black, so I covered it with a brown belt to go with the outfit. So, what do you think???

I actually got a lot of compliments on this outfit. One person saying I looked very pretty and "Springy" on such a dreary fall day. It felt good, and I think this is a beautiful jacket...

Just note it is two sizes too small, so I can't close it, well I can close it, but it won't look right. But, hey, I didn't buy it to wear it closed. It's an accessory, to keep me warm and brighten up my outfit. And I think it did it's job pretty well.

Earth Shades and Kinda Good Hair Day

Today I wasn't inspired by anything in particular. I guess I just started with this blouse and went from there.

I have had this skirt from ASOS for about a 6 months. I bought this skirt 1 size to small initally and then ended buying it again but this time one size too big.

So I've thinking about giving away the US size 18 to one of my readers.

Bed, Bright and Blue...Sick AGAIN??

Today I woke up feeling Horrible And when I say horrible I mean HOR-OR-ABLE.

So I called into work and told them I would't be able to make it in. I could hardly get my son to school because I thought I would faint behind the wheel. Yes, it was that major. But after sleeping the day away in Bed (get it from the title?) around 3 I woke up feeling slightly better. My nose is still swollen, I still have a headache, but I don't have the fever I had this morning anymore. Anyway, to run some errands and pick my son up from school and take him to swim practice, I wore the following::

It isn't incredibly inspiring, and it IS a little matchy-matchy, but so what, I wanted to wear these shoes, and this seemed like the perfect, shirt to put on.

Don't sleep on payless, their styles are really trendy and afforable. Good bye cheap flip flops and ugly clogs, hello platforms and designer styles for payless prices...

Inspiration vs. Realization: On A Budget Mumma'

What I wore on Monday is was just a throw together items with the same base color: black...

I'm not even sure it matched.

When I got home I changed into something more comfy to run some errands. I was inspired by a set I put together on on polvore called"On a Budger Mumma".

Although the colors aren't the same, the set up is. A colorful tuni, jegggins and high heels.

I couldn't decided between wearing the belt ad not wearing the belt. So I went without the belt for the day, but now I wish I kind kept the belt... cuz it seemed to add something. Oh Well..

I wore these beautiful bluee shoes... They are actually amazingly comfortable. Despite being somewhat high.

The skirt is actually black and white with red and yellow stripes going through it, not grey like it is showing in the pictures. it was freaking sunny out when I took these (during my lunch break), that I almost took them insider, But decided to say out so this is happens! Inspiration vs. Realization: Workin' Gurl...

My inspiration started with this hot pink sheath dress. I thought It would look nice with a duller color, like khaki, so I tried it out on polvore and it looked pretty cool. So I put together a set on polyvore, with outrageously priced items, and then tried to somewhat mirror it with what I already have in my closet. I had to belt the sheath because it is one size too big. I have no clue why I got it in the size I did, because I love love LOVE the color of this dress, I guess I was worried it wouldn't fit so I wanted to make sure, I don't know... Regardless, I like how it turned out...

Please, don't mind my hair, I am in the middle of a mid-hair-crisis. You know, when you are growing out your hair and it is in that in-between stage where it won't do anything you want it to. I don't do wigs, or weaves so I'm just going to have to deal with it... :'-(

Bye Bye Tripping Hazard....and SuperHero Dress

I got these shoes in the mail, and they are waaaaay too tall. Even for me. They are like a 6 inch heel with a 1/2 inch platform, they are too tall and I have no clue how anyone with a foot smaller than mine would walk in them..

That reminds me, the other day at Ikea I saw these really cute lady walking around in these 5 inch platforms. She had somehow gotten a cart up to the portion of the floor where no carts are (you know, where all the furniture displays are) and was essentially leaning on the cart to help her walk...

I admit, heels make you look sooo luscious sometimes... And the taller the heel, usually the better your legs look, but really....REALLY...when you can't bend your knees in order to walk, there's a problem.

So those shoes will be going back. At least that's money in my bank account, that I can save for a rainy day... Too bad they didn't work out, they were so cute...Actually, in person they a lot darker purple, so I really don't feel that bad about returning them. I wanted them to be more of a raspberry purple as seen in the picture.. So it works out both ways...

Bye Bye shoes, and Bye Bye Tripping Hazard...

And as for this dress I bought, it is going right back as well.

I tried to add some shape to it with a belth (because not only is it too big, it is completely shapeless) but it only kept riding up my leg and making me look like a superhero... I'm sure the boots didn't help...

oh, well.

Are Faux Fur Vest Warm?

I've always wondered if Faux fur vest are warm... Well, it's cold out today, so I guess I'll figure that out real quick at my son's soccer game. Since the grass is muddy I decided to wear these boots I got from Evans. They aren't the prettiest things (they LOOKED pretty on the website) but they are comfy and are interesting to look at. I think what makes them ugly are the brown spots, but I wear them anyway...

I couldn't decide before between the white top, the red top or the yellow top. I settled on the white because I'm boring.

I wore my faux fur vest, a white shirt and some flare jeans, that I accidentally got one size too big. It is COLD and windy outside, so we'll see if this vest will keep me cozy... I always wondered "what about the arms" same thing I wonder with capes... Is your chest the only part of your body that really needs to be kept warm? We'll see.

**UPDATE** I guess it kept me warm. I wasn't cold, as long as I kept my hands in my pockets. So the verdict is, vest do keep you relatively warm...

My inspiration for this outfit were some blue shoes I have and a dress I have from Dorothy Perkins. The blue shoes I have are a royal blue, not like the teal in this set, and the dress is actually black with big red flowers all over it, but the shapes of both items are similar to what is shown in this set. I saw this stained glass dress from Dorothy Perkins and immediately put it on my wishlist. Hopefully, it comes in my size...

Here is the dress, Same silouhette, but different print. I'd probably wear it with red shoes.

Final Verdict: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail strips

Thoughts:
Lasted for 7 days of nice looking nails. Beyond that I don't know what my nails will look like, because the nail strips are starting to crack and peel off. Although, I probably could go another 2 more days, I probably won't since this is the weekend, and I don't have an extra hour throughout the week to clean off the old nail strip and glue, and put on the new nail strips. So I will probably change the color this weekend..

Is it worth $9?
Pro: Well, it is cheaper than a manicure plus tip.. And it honestly looks pretty good. They last a full five days still covering most of your nail. I am curious if a top coat would help alleviate the cracking and peeling that begins to occur around day 3-4.

Con: The only problem is they started to crack around day 3, and the solid color seemed to show that more clearly than the strips with the designs. Plus they are an annoyance to take off.

Final Verdict: I still prefer painting my nails. So I won't be buying anymore of the solid colors. But when I want a design, I will go for the nail strip.

I was inspired by a Dorothy Perkins body con dress that I own, that I've been meaning to pull out of the closet but just haven't gotten around to. The dress is actually striped silver and black and is midi length so it is slightly different than the set, but you get the point. So I plan to pair it with black hoisery, silver accessories, black knee high boots, and a black leather jacket...For a pop of color I'd wear my yellow bag with it... I think it just may work...

Wearing Purple: My Story

Today I planned to wear purple and yellow. At first it started out as a joke last night with @FrugalBigGirl on Twitter. Because she said it looks like I never wear the same thing. But I've worn this dress before... Here and Here.. and Here. And wore this cardigan Here and Here and Here. See, so I do were my clothes more than once.

I didn't know what to wear today and Karla (check her out at Frugalbiggirl.blogspot.com) suggested I wear purple or yellow. So I decided to wear purple AND yellow.. Yellow because I like it (and it means hope), and purple in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month...

Domestic Violence is a bit of a sore subject for me as I've been in more than one abusive relationship. Call me hard-headed, blind, stupid whatever, but the abuse wasn't always physical; actual most of the time it was more mental and sexual, but it was still domestic violence. I decided in order to share a little of who I am, I would share one of my own stories, to show that it can happen to anyone, at anytime...

One of My Stories...
One day, I was at the mall with my boyfriend and my "best friend". (You'll see why I use quotation marks in a moment). My boyfriend went to another store or to the bathroom or somewhere else so that he left us alone (which when I think of it, he rarely let me go anywhere by myself but that is another story for another time). My "friend and I went into a shoe store, where my friend saw these white boots (I remember those damn white boots), that she wanted, but we found that they had a scratch on them.

Being the bargainer I was, I immediately searched for the store associate, presented him with the boots and asked him "if she could get a discount because the boots were scratched.." He looked at the boots, looked at me and smiled and said he'd give us a discount, but only if I would give him my number. I immdiately refused, and explained I had a boyfriend... but he kept pressing me. My best friend also began pressing me, telling me my boyfriend wouldn't know, and I could just give him a fake number. But I kept refusing. Finally, just to get them both off my back, I caved and asked the guy if he would give us the discount if I instead took HIS number. He thought this a great idea and went to the front of the store to get paper and pen...

As he wrote down his number, my "best friend" stood back, almost as though she sensed something was about to go terribly wrong... Well, as luck would have it, as soon as the guy was handing the piece of paper with his number to me, my boyfriend walked into the store. I glanced at my boyfriend and without thinking, grabbed the paper and quickly stuffed it into my pocket. Unfortunately, my boyfriend saw this, and stormed over. At first he only yelled and asked me what it was that I put in my pocket. He yelled at me, questioned my "friend" and threatened the guy, who immediately shrank away to the safety of the front of the store... My "friend" backed away, leaving me to my own devices as my boyfriend then turned back to me, knocked a shelf of shoes off the wall, and grabbed me by my arm. he whispered in the most evil tone "What did you just put in your pocket?" He asked me with so much anger I couldn't say a word. He squeezed my arm harder and asked me again... At first I denied anything, then I just sat quiet, I was so scared....

After staring at me for what seemed like hours, his hand immediately left my arm and seemed to materialize out of nowhere around my neck. YES, HE GRABBED MY NECK! With just my neck in his hand, he threw me up and against the wall and held me there for maybe 10 seconds. My feet not touching the ground felt like an eternity. He just stared at me, as I grabbed at his hand, struggling to breathe.... He then loosened his grip and dropped me to the ground, punched the wall above my head and then stormed out of the store...

My "best friend" scurried out of the store after him... yep, folks, she left me sitting there on the floor, to go see if my boyfriend was "okay"...

When I finally found them sitting at a table in the food court, (it was a blur walking out of the store, and into the mall, the pure embarrassment of it all, I think I blocked it out how or why I found them - I'm still surprised to this day that no one called security)...Anyway, when I found them, she was oohing and aahing and cooing over his bleeding knuckles.. While I just sat down, still in shock over the whole incident...

Unfortunately, I stayed in both relationships and encountered more abuse from both of them until finally I had had enough and walked away from them both... I was only in my teens when this happened - 9th grade, if I remember correctly...Abuse can come in many forms, abandonment, physical, mental, verbal...It can be just as bad mentally as it can be physically. Physical wounds usually heal, it is the mental ones you have to worry about....

Below is a wheel they use in shelters when counseling domestic violence victims...

We must stop domestic abuse, whether it is the guy or the girl doing the abuse. Whether it is a hetero or homo sexual relationship. Whether the violence is against the parent or the children. and whether it is verbal, sexual, physical or mental. It must stop..

I leave you with some statistics:

Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten.

Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.

Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.

Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup.

Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends.

Ninety-two percent of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern.

Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.

Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.

The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.

Men who as children witnessed their parents’ domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

Inspiration v Realization: Polka Dots

I was totally inspired by this skirt and stocking combo of polka dots via the Sartorialist.

My version: I love these stockings!!

I got this skirt from Asos and was just waiting for the right time to wear it. Although today, might have been the right time to wear it, it wasn't the best day to take pictures. I had my son's soccer practice at 6 and I get off work at 5:30 and it gets dark at 6:30, so there was no time to take pictures. I tried to do a quick photo shoot before I undressed, but the pictures turned out darker than they looked on the camera screen. So by the time I had undressed, I finally realized how dark these pics were. plus my hair is a complete mess and my makeup is all worn off....Oh Well, I'll do another photo shoot on the weekend and update the pictures...

I went out to lunch and had my mother try to snap a quick photo of me, but I don't really like how they turned out and by the time I got home it was too dark to take pictures outside, so I attempted to take them inside, which caused them to be a bit dark, but you get the point of the outfit....

Sick and Style Inspiration

Sorry I didn't post my outfit today as I am pretty sick.

Today I wore this polka dot black cardigan from Torrid.

With a tiered skirt from Macy*s, similar to the one above just in black.

I wore the cardigan as a sweater so I wore it closed without a cami underneath.

I left work around 3, this afternoon because I just couldn't make it through the rest of the day.

But tomorrow hopefully I will feel better and plan to take inspiration from the following polyvore set created by @AdoreMyCurves of HeartSoulandCurves.com. I recommend you go visit her Tumblr site as well as her Polyvore site, she has some really nice clothing sets that she created, some of which I will be trying to recreate (with a twist) with the clothes I have in my closet. Check her out! Anyway, onto her polyvore set.

I plan to adjust it to what I have in my closet, so instead of wearing a striped dress, I plan to instead wear a black and white striped skirt, a white cami, a black blazer and red shoes.
I am not sure what type of jewelry I am going to wear.

I'll try to stay away from my "go-to" jewelry and will attempt something new.

But that is my plan on what I am going to wear tomorrow, depending on how I'm feeling. We'll see how it turns out.

When All Else Fails...

Do you have "go-to" jewelry? You know, that jewelry you always seem to turn to when nothing else works. That jewelry you always seem to grab when your in a rush. That jewelry you always seem to wear no matter if your going to work or to the movies. Well, today was one of those days where none of my jewelry seemed to be working and I grabbed my "go-to" pieces. My silver beaded necklace, and my silver beaded hoop earrings. When all else fails,these seem to work.

Today I felt like wearing flats. No particular reason I just did. I had picked this outfit out a while ago, but just never wore it. I guess I was saving it for one of those days I felt like I had nothing to wear (like today) so that I would have a "go-to"/ "emergency" outfit to throw on.

I was thinking, every woman should have "go-to" jewelry and a "go-to" outfit that they can just throw on and not worry. This outfit isn't particularly special but I loved the stockings, I loved the cardigan and I was comfy and cozy in our freezing cold office (although I admit the wrap I have on the back of my desk chair helped also).

It is simply a really nice cardigan from evans, a black ruffle cami from Lane Bryant, and this stretchy (great quality mind you) thick material skirt, that I picked up a while ago from TJ Maxx/Marshalls. I threw on some textured stockings to add a little zing to my outfit, and threw on some black flats and went about my way.. (Don't I always say that!?!?).

Too Cute To Not Keep

After church, I am going to meet my mother to pick up my son. He has some fundraiser deliveries to make down in Maryland, which is why he needed to go down there this weekend. A lot of my family lives in the MD/DC area, and they were kind enough to buy some stuff from fundraiser for my son's school.

If you've looked at my "Shop My Closet" page, you might recognize this shirt. I had it for sale, but after some thought, I decided to keep it. It is JUST TOO CUTE TO NOT KEEP!!!

In the middle of picture taking, Ziggy decided he wanted to join in the fun. It was muddy in the backyard so I was trying to keep him from messing up my pants. In the first picture you can see me noticing him coming for me. I have the look of "Uh Oh" on my face. The second pic, I am like "Oh God, don't jump on me" the third pic I'm silently laughing as he ran off as fast as he came. You can see his little bottom in the picture.

I really like this outfit, it feels very bohemian chic to me. The only problem with this shirt is that it is a tie back. Meaning it has a tie that ties in the back. I hate those types of shirts, because they make me look pregnant. But this shirt seemed to be okay.

Instead of wearing my typical silver accessories, I decided to go for the burnished gold to match the boots. I think silver would have looked too washed out with this outfit. the bracelet (or bracelets rather) I wore, were an interlocking combo of silver, rose gold, and gold colored bangles.

The necklace is burnished gold as well, and is a cutout of a leaf. My earrings are burnished gold and rose gold, beads on a hoop.

All in all, it is a very comfortable outfit, but I also think it is cute. Isn't that a any woman's goal: to be cute AND comfy at the same time... Well, mission accomplished, at least I think.

The cutest part about this shirt, is the cut outs around the neck and down the sleeve. They really add something to the shirt and make it more than just a simple cream tunic.

Now, onto the footwear. I fell in love with these boots when I saw them on Evans website. I put off buying them for two whole weeks but then decided I couldn't live without them. I love them to pieces. I love the color and I love that they are wedges. I bought these a while ago, and couldn't wait to pull them out on the perfect fall that is today. Today it is about 69 degrees and sunny and bit windy. Perfectly fall.

Now, to end this post, as always, a headshot. But not just a headshot of me, but of my furry little one;s as well. I actually got Ziggy to stand still long enough to take a pic of him, I'm so proud I had to post it!!

"Early One Sunday Morning..."

It is early this morning. I didn't sleep very well last night, you can tell in my eyes. (One eye is bigger than the other - ugh!!)

So since, I didn't sleep very well, I woke up pretty early and decided to do my nails, do my hair and then go to church. I've been wanting to wear this plaid dress but I didn't know how. I decided to pair it with my black ruffle cardigan,a yellow belt and BIG white pearls.

And for once, I actually took a photo of the purse I'm carrying my crap in while wearing this outfit...

I don't know why I don't take photos of my handbags. I do carry them, and not the same one every day. I just don't think to take a pic of them or just don't know how to without them looking all droopy.

I guess, I could just hang them on something like I did this purse. (It is alot more yellow than it looks in the picture - not sure why it showing up so ashy yellow like)

I think this purse is so cute. I thrifted it a WHILE back, and have hardly used it because it is kinda old ladyish. But I thought that vibe went well with this outfit, plus it matched my belt, so I decided to wear it. I paired with off-black stockings, and black torrid heels, because frankly, I don't have any yellow shoes (except for sandals) and I think yellow shoes would have been too much I think.

I put on my yellow bumblebee ring just to bring the yellow out in the plaid and bring some youthfulness and playfulness to the outfit. ( I just noticed in this picture that one of my bumblebees legs are missing - ugh!!)

As you can see, I changed my nail color. I have a short attention span, so the "booty camp" Sally Hansen strips I was wearing, had to come off. Let me tell you, taking them off was almost as big as a nightmare as putting them on. Usually it takes me three jumbo cotton balls to take off my nailpolish. To take those suckers off it took ten (10). They kept leaving this whitish residue on my nails and fingers which I am assuming is the glue. So it took a lot to get that off my nails.

But did that stop me from putting another color back on? Noooo.... This time I am wearing a solid color "cry baby" in the Sally Hansen strips. It's like a neon pink color, that isn't really showing up in the picture.

This time it wasn't as hard putting them on, but it still did take me about 45 minutes to do my nails. (Maybe 30, I don't know it seemed like an awfully long time). I still messed up a few times. No wonder they give you 16 strips. Those suckers tear and rip so easily.

But anyway, that is what I did with my morning. Put on these strips and tried to figure out what to wear to church. As you can see, I am wearing my hair slightly different today. I attempted to tame it by pulling it back into a poofy pony tail. I am also wearing my glasses, because my contacts were irritating my eyes and I just had to give them a break. So old lady chic is what I'm going for today!! What do you think??

"Where's Her Pants?"

Today i decided to wear an INC tunic as a dress. I wore opaque tights to make it less obvious, but I definitely wasn't wearing any pants! I wore knee boots from Lane Bryant, and some wooden jewelry I either thrifted (necklace) or got from my mother (earrings). Today I let my hair do it's things, and rocked the curly 'fro.

I LOVE LOVE this tunic. It has pockets wand is just long enough to wear as a dress and get away with it. I love the sleeves, the color and just how it fits overall. I really like Macy*s INC (International Concepts) line. I would wear almost everything they make. And these boots form Lane Bryant were perfect for walking in wet grass, then walking around the mall. They are comfy, stylish and waterproof, more on that below.

I took my son to soccer practice, and was the soccer mom of the day, since I had to bring snacks. That is why I was walking in wet grass. I knew I wanted to wear something cute, but as you know, heels and grass don't work together, so I opted for these buckle boots. I was glad I did...

I then met my mother halfway in Maryland, so that my son could spend the weekend with my parents. Isn't my mom beautiful!!

I had her take a picture of me and my son, before she left. He is still wearing his soccer clothes. He didn't want to take them off because he swears he looks cool in all black...He does though, doesn't he?

After, I dropped him off, I stopped by Torrid and Lane Bryant to shop their clearance racks and get a new red belt, since my dog Ziggy, chewed up my other one. At Lane Bryant, I saw that pleather waterfall moto jacket that alot of people are lusting after. I am too, but not for $189 and it's not even real leather. I'll try to wait until it goes on sale... I just noticed on line it is onsale for $132. it is a cute jacket but I don't know, I'd have to wait until it went on sale for under a $100, which probably won't happen. Oh well...

Well, that was my day. Time to through on my Norma Kamali T-shirt night gown and call it a night. My allergies are kicking my butt, I was asked in both stores if "I was alright". I guess the look on my face wasn't very pleasant, but my nose is stuffed and I am battling this cold to no end...Wish me luck and hope that I get better before Monday....

Today I decided to combine two trends into one, the midi skirt and leopard print.
Instead of wearing just black or brown with the skirt, I decided to "spice" it up a bit and wear red.
I went back and forth about wearing a belt, but the belt was just too thick, so I opted to just wear the cardigan buttoned.

What I looked like when I got home from work!! I decided to button the cardigan all the way up. Plus, my hair was doing crazy things all day. I washed it this morning and it just hasn't been the same. It does it's own thing sometimes...

I hate headshots, but I take them anyway to get over my phobia and to showcase my jewelry.

I still think this midi skirt makes me look older than I am. I just can't get into the midi skirt trend, but I tried. Perhaps I just didn't wear it correctly, so there is always next time.

What do you think of the midi skirt trend? Young or Old? Trendy or Fashionable?

I got so many compliments on my shoes from random strangers I figured I might as well include a picture of them. they are from nine West, and they are some of the most comfy heels (wedges) I own. I own 4 pairs of this shoe in different colors (2 black patents, 1 black suede, and these red patent ones) I got the two black patent because I knew i would wear them out and wanted a backup...

I wore these to and from the office (unlike usual where I might wear flats into the office and wear my heels around the office), wore these to the drug store where i picked up to more Nail strip packs and a Halloween costume for my son, and to the grocery store. All without my feet hurting. That is the sign of a good shoe. And they are pretty also!! BONUS!

Review Day 4: Sally Hansen, Okay, I'm sold

Okay Im sold. Apart from the slight chipping around the edges, and some nail growth, the nails strips stayed very well. Usually by day 3, my nail polish has chipped all the way to the middle of my finger so I have to either hide my nails or take off the polish (it is usually me hiding my nails because I get lazy). But today, at a meeting, I found myself actually trying to show off my nails.

For 4 whole days they still look pretty good. At least from afar, they still look fresh and up close, well, just look at the picture, they still don't look half bad.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is taking the nailpolish off. I have a inkling that is going to be pretty hard to do... almost as bad as putting them on...

But was it worth it? Yes.. The $9 bucks I paid, was worth it, because of the design and the way they stay. These would be perfect for a cruise, honeymoon, vacation or some other long period of time where you don't have access to the nail salon. Or are just like me and don't go to nail salons. You can get the salon look for 1/2 the price..

I sound like an informercial, but I am being honest. I think the second time of putting these on will be easier, I figured out that you should chose a strip that is slightly larger than your nail, and then just trim the edges, that way you know you are getting the polish to the edges. Also I learned that you should file your nails before putting these bad boys on, because ragged nails cause for ragged nailpolish and makes it more likely to chip off.

I picked up a solid color as well (with a $10 +up coupon from Rite-Aid) and plan to see how that looks since I won't have the design hiding all the imperfections. But this time I should be a pro at it, and hopefully they will look okay.

Autumn Candy Stripes

I just received this dress in the mail from Walmart. (only $8 free shipping!!) I got it in a 3x because I figured it was junior plus sizing and I'd rather it be too big than too small. Well, it is a tad too big but I just added a belt and a cardi and you couldn't tell.

I debated about wearing a corsage with it. At first I had a blue AND purple flower pin on my cardigan, but I didn't like how that looked so then I tried it with just the blue, but that just seemed to bright, so I settled on just the purple.

I paired the dress with a black cardigan, my nine west shooties (if shoes and boots had a love child) and sheer black stockings. I kept my accessories to a minimum due to the nature of the dress. I took off the belt that came with it, because the belt was WAY too big. And just put on a simple black belt that have very many bells or whistles because I didn't want it to compete with the dress.

I wore my hair in a curly afro, just because I didn't wash it last night and this is how it turned out this morning!! I like this look and one of my coworkers said I looked "sassy", whatever THAT means.

So that is what I wore today!!!

Today was so dreary, we went to a meeting a co-worker commented on my flower calling it a little ray of sunshine... Yeah, when winter comes, we tend to dress down in color. We tend to wear lots of greys, blacks, and browns. But I plan to spruce up this fall and winter with some color, so look for that in the coming weeks!!

Review Day 3: Sally Hansen...blah blah you get the point

Okay, so I am on day 3, and the strips are hanging on for dear life.

I now have a larger strip missing from my left pointer finger (yesterday it was my right pointer finger).

I mean don't get me wrong, they still don't look as bad as they probably would have, had I just painted my nails. It seems like it is only the edges that are coming apart, but the majority of the strip is staying put.

Like I said before, my fingers take a beating from me, whether it be from typing all day, to washing dishes for 10 minutes... I am always using my fingers so it is understandable that any nailpolish won't necessarily stay put for 8 to 10 days. For me, that is a total pipe dream... But so far so good, they still don't look half bad, and I am not embarrassed to point something out to anyone in fear they would catch a glimpse of my nails. The design is really cute and I've gotten some compliments on it.. The design thankfully makes it harder to see the blemishes and cracks in the nail polish.

So onto to day 4!!!

Nothing Special

Today I woke up late again, so I AGAIN grabbed a random pair of pants and a matching shirt, some shoes that showed some semblance of put-to-getherness and rushed out the door.

The outfit wasn't bad, but it was definitely nothing special. I still felt pretty rotten today and I think my choice of outfit didn't help. So here it is.

The best part about this outfit was the shoes.

I promise, tomorrow will be better.. This week is just not starting out well.

Review Day 2: Sally Hanson Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Okay, Day 2, and the strips are hanging on, but barely: two chipped on me today. My pointer finger and my middle finger. The pointer finger is more noticeable.

Like I said, I am hard on my nails. I don't use gloves when washing the dishes, I am constantly washing my hands, I wash my hair and run my fingers through my hair every morning, I use a scrub glove instead of a wash cloth in the shower. So my fingers really get the brunt of everyday living from my. So if these strips can make it a week, then I am sold. So I will keep you updated on the progress and let you know if anyothers chip on me, crack or just plain come off.

Pink Zebra and Mommy Dearest (in a good way)

Today I wore a zebra print cami, and a bright pink cardigan. I didn't really care for the outfit because the pants were just too big and too long, so it didn't make it seem as fitted as I wanted it to be. But I was running late and I wasn't in a skirt/stocking kinda mood, so I grabbed the first pair of black pants on the rack and went about my way

Oh that blur you see in the picture is my dog Ziggy. He wouldn't sit still enough for a picture to be taken of him. His name is definitely befitting of him, as he is constantly zig zagging all around the house.

Today, I has a wonderful surprise. My mother came all the way up from Maryland to take me out to lunch.

And when I got home, she had cleaned up my living room (which was in dire need of the help), had put the dishes in the sink away and had folded the laundry!! How awesome was that? Some people would find that an intrusion of their privacy, but I hadn't been feeling too well for the last week, and called my mother yesterday practically crying about how much of a mess my house was and how I couldn't get in the mood to clean it.. So my Mother came up and started the cleanup for me....My mother is the greatest!!

She had decided to stay over to watch my son at his swimming practice. So I changed clothes and we left. This is what I wore to swimming practice.

The best part about this top is the back. It's got this sort of drape effect to it with a cutout and then a second shirt underneath.

So when I move, a portion of my back shows.

So that was my day, and these were my outfits. Nothing particularly special, but then again, I was taking my son to swim practice, not going on a date...

Review Day 1: Sally Hanson Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Okay, I hate painting my nails because they never last more than 2 days. I hate having plain nails because whenever I wear makeup I am constantly touching my face which gets my makeup under my nails which makes me look like my nails are constantly dirty....so I spend 10 minutes washing my hands every 1/2 hour trying to get the brown makeup from under my nails...

Anyway, so I heard about these nailpolish strips and decided I had to try them. They are supposed to last 8 - 10 days and they have really cute designs and they are supposed to be easy to put on (supposed to be...)

Well, this is only day one of wearing these nail polish strips and I feel like I am walking around with stickers on my finger nails...oh wait, I AM walking around with stickers on my finger nails... but that is not what really got to me... putting these suckers on was STRESSFUL... You peel off the top protective cover then you peel off the bottom part that makes it sticky. After that all hell breaks loose.

The strips was sticking to EVERYTHING but my nail... It was stretching and breaking and just getting all over the place. Maybe I just have clumsy hands, but painting my nails is a helluva lot easier and I am usually much happier with the finished product. As opposed to the strips where I have pieces missing from parts of my nail, or the strip was either too big or too small for the nail. They tell you to stretch it a little bit to make it fit, but I ended up stretching it either not enough or too much and it would break. I have a nail where the strip has stuck to itself so I have a raised line going through my nail where I couldn't pull the strip off of itself. The good thing is I chose a design where you can't really see the mess-ups. But STILL, this was stressful. There has gotta be a better way to put these things on.

Well, we'll see if buying these was worth it in a week. If they stay I may try them again, but I have a feeling with the way I wash my hands, wash the dishes, was my face and just plain scrub down my body, I don't think these will be making it past day 3...but we'll see.

Just chillin, Lace and Zebra

Today was Columbus day, I had the option of staying home or going to work...I chose to stay home. I was planning to go to work, but I just haven't been feeling 100% lately. I have some sort of Allergy/cold/flu thing that I've been fighting on and off for the past week.

Anyway, here is what I wore today, to go grocery shopping and to clean the house. Just a simple lace top from City Chic, Some grey skinny jeans from Torrid (Source of Wisdom) and some zebra flats. I was comfy.

Not a fan of Forever 21

I have to say I have not been that big of a fan of Forever 21's plus range. I could never find anything that I liked. I would see other bloggers with items they found but for some reason I couldn't even find THOSE items. well, in a "jump on the bandwagon" moment I had a few months ago, I went into a forever 21 and scoured the racks for SOMETHING I could buy, just so I could say I had something from forever 21...not my greatest moment I admit...Especially when I found out the return policy.

Well, after having this shirt in the closet for umpteenth months, I decided to pull it out and try to wear it. i don't think it turned out that bad. The fabric is a bit flimsy, but considering what I paid for it, I guess I get what I pay for... I got it in a 3x because the 2x was a little tighter around my hips than I liked. I wanted the shirt more flowy. Well, that made the top of it quite big on me so I had to wear a tank underneath...

I paired it with my black girl nude shoes from HSN/QVC one of those places, and went about my way. the shoes are actually quite comfy so I had no problem walking around in them all day, but I also consider that I didn't really do as much walking as a I did driving, so perhaps that contributed to the fact that my feet didn't hurt at the end of the day... I also wore some wooden earrings and a matching necklace that i didn't take a picture of. but you can probably see them if you look close enough!!

Anyway that is my story.

Rainbow Bright and failed yard sale!!

Today I decided to pull out the City Chic shirt I've had no clue how to wear and see if I could get away with it. It was 76 degrees today, perfect for this type of top because one half is a 3/4 sleeve the other is no sleeve. I paired it with turquoise blue shoes and a yellow clutch.

I am not much for clutches, to me they are beautiful but impractical. I mean you constantly have something in your hand! That is why I love this clutch, it has a wrist strap so if I am carrying something else or want to pick something up, I just throw it over my wrist and don't have to worry about accidentally setting it down.

I tried taking pictures outside, but they just weren't turning out the way I wanted them to. It could just blame it on my dogs with their incessant barking, but I won't because it was just my fault. Just for your viewing pleasure here are some outtakes....

I ended up painting my nails silver, after they've been gold for the last week. I also purchased some of those Sally Hansen nail stickers (whatever they are called ) and plan to try them out when this manicure begins to fade (so in about 2 or 3 days).
We also had the yard sale today. It was a womp-womp flop. No one showed up, and everyone who did was looking for baby clothes. I did sell some shoes and a sweater and a leather jacket. But none of my mothers jewelry ( I guess I kept all the good pieces - LOL) and no dresses.

I will try to hold my own yard sale, because I have some good stuff and I am trying not to take this ultimate FAIL as a attestation to my own lack of style. So we will just try again...

Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday - Following the Crowd!!

"Jumping the Trend Bandwagon"

I thought it was weirdly appropriate considering I bought into the faux fur trend by buying the vest in the post below, and realized, it just didn't work for me!!

1. Do you ever see a fad hit the stores and immediately dislike it? Has that fad ever began to grow on you? Yes! Midi skirts and Maxi skirts made me think of old ladies and hippies. But after seeing the way many bloggers dressed them up to make them seem much more younger, it actually began to grow on me and I am considering buying a midi skirt of my own... (still not big on the maxi skirt)... Unfortunately, the midi skirt probably won't fit me the way it fits them, so I am definitely hesitant about going with this fad.

2. Has the popularity of a certain piece of clothing or line ever convinced you to try on something (or purchase something) you dislike? The popularity of Forever 21, made me buy a whole bunch of stuff that I ended up not wearing. I just bought it because it seemed like everyone else was finding great clothing there. For some reason I just couldn't find anything instore or online, but I bought stuff just to say I got something from there...pretty bad I know... Also, harem Pants, I disliked them but everyone else was loving them so I purchased a pair and I swear they make me look like I am wearing depends.

3. Have you ever changed your mind about a trend after seeing it around for a while? Harem Pants. I used to think they looked like diaper pants. Even though I personally still can't wear them, I think they are adorable on those who can... In this post, made the mistake of buying a pair from City Chic and on me, they still look like diaper pants....

4. Do you feel a certain pressure to have specific items in your closet because ‘everyone’ else does? Yeah, faux fur. It seems really big this season and I REALLY REALLY want a piece in my closet, but my neck is just too short, so whenever I try on a faux fur jacket or vest, it looks like an animal is giving birth to my head...disgusting thought I know, but true.... I'm still going to try. There is an Michael Kors piece I have my eye on but it is $160 and I'm not sure whether I want to pay that much for a trend that might get old...

5. Be honest, what do you think of the Missoni line? Did you grab any items? Is it worth the eBay prices? I personally think it doesn't match the hype. All it is, is just a whole bunch of stuff with curvy lines all over it. Nothing I saw was particularly special or unique. I think it was just the designer name that made people want to buy it. If Walmart or Kmart offered the same design without the designer price, I bet no one would buy it (or atleast it wouldn't be as popular) and NO it isn't worth the Ebay price...What a rip-off.

Literal Gemini

I'm sick, but atleast my hair looks nice

Today, I missed work because I woke up pretty sick: Headache out of control, naseau, body aches, sore throat, runny nose, lethargic...everything that points to sickness. I have no clue what was going on because I was relatively fine yesterday, except of course I was popping claritan like a kid pops pez candy. I thought it was just allergies or post nasal drip. Apparently it is a little something worse. So I ended up falling back asleep after notifying my manager I wouldn't be coming in, and didn't wake up until 2:30.

I had to return this fur vest I bought...As you can see it looked Helluva lot better on the model. On me it looked like a bear was giving birth to my head..yeah, pretty disgusting!! It actually looks way better in the below picture than it looked in real life. The part that looked leather in the ad, is actually this really flimsy material that looks mega cheap in real life. As you can see, I don't look very happy with the pictures!!

Anyway, to go to the mall, I threw on a sweater although it was something like 70 degrees outside. I had a fever so I shortly began to sweat, so I took the sweater off but only inside. I don't need to be getting any sicker especially since I have the yard sale tomorrow. I kind liked this outfit. It was casual yet very nice looking, and it was comfy...

Thrift Week - Day Seven - Grey Print Skirt

The print on this skirt is reminiscent of animal print but I am not quite sure what it is.

This skirt was thrifted last year and I just never got around to wearing it because I didn't know how.

Well, I with my Thrift week goal as motivation, I decided to finally wear this skirt. So I paired it with a grey jacket, grey heels and a white studded belt.

My mother gave me some costume jewelry from her own jewelry box for the yard sale on Saturday, and said I could keep anything I liked. Well, there were a lot of pieces I liked. Including this feather necklace, feather earrings and circle bracelet. They went perfectly with my outfit.

I am pretty happy with how this turned out

Leopard Print -- AGAIN!

This evening I had to run down to Maryland to pick up a table for the yard sale that is happening this Saturday. I decided I really wanted to wear this leopard skirt, and I didn't want to change out of my stockings, and I REALLY wanted to wear a pair of my new boots...so basically I had everything figured out but the top.

I started off with the black cami and khaki colored sweater, but then I wasn't really feeling that, so I decided to go with a black tunic and a leopard print belt....I still am not 100% happy with it, but whatever... I tried...

I think it is such an adorable color, but in order to make it more Autumn friendly, (instead spring like) I paired it with all black.

A Note To My Readers

I decided to heed the various advice I was receiving and reading from more experienced bloggers, and update the name of my blog and layout. Although, the all white background took some getting used to - as it seemed awfully bright!

But I really want this blog to work. And as in work, I mean I want to be proud of it, and not afraid to show it off. Right now, very few people in my personal life know I have a blog. But I think it is time to change that. Why not showcase my personal style? Show that I am proud of my body and the way it works?

So with that said, the title has been changed from “Stop, You’re Broke” to just simply “Literal Gemini”.

I still doubt I will be doing food posts, which seems to be all the rage with fashion blogs (never understood the correlation between fashion and food) but I will be doing outfit posts, almost everyday, fashion and gossip news and commentary on items that I feel my readers would find of interest.

It would be great if you could follow me, but if you don’t feel like following, leaving a comment is just fine as well. I enjoy hearing from my readers and learning what they like and don’t like, and what they want more of.

This blog is as much for you as it is for me. I hope to help people become inspired to accept and enjoy their bodies no matter the size, and I hope to become inspired by you, my reader. So feel free to leave a link to your blog in the comments. I always love seeing others fashion, because that inspires me to be greater and to try out new things.

What makes an Attractive Blog

I read a post on IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) website, about what makes an attractive Blog. Well, in summary thier point was the background should be white, the text should be dark if not black, and there should be a basic logo with no bells and whistles...

Well, what do you think. Is my money background too much for your eyes to handle....Do you prefer plain vanilla all-white backgrounds to backgrounds with pictures, or designs?

I guess it makes sense as it keeps the focus on the photos you post, but in my gemini mind, I am thinking, it makes all the blogs look the same....But what do I know, as of today I have 8 followers (at my peak I had 80 on previous blog - which by the way was black background with yellow writing)... I don't know, just curious what you think of my layout. I kinda like it...but then again, it goes with my title, which in and of itself probably turns people off.

I should go with a simple title like:

I don't know...still trying to figure out where this blog is going!!

I decided to wear a matching red tank and a black studded belt, and a black blazer. to keep it funky but office appropriate. I love these pants. I have wanted to have red pants for the longest time, but couldn't find any that fit right. These are a little short which is why I roll them up, but other wise they fit perfectly.

I paired them with my Christian Siriano Heels, and although the detail on the heel is gold, it is a light enough gold that I can get away with wearing it with silver accessories.

My hair was doing it's own thing, I tried flattening it down, or poofing it up , and it was just doing whatever it felt. So sometimes I just have to go with it... What do you think?

Thrift Week - Day Four - Gold and Green

I decided to throw on this warp thingy I thrifted that the picture just didn't do justice because I want to show that it can indeed be styled.

I didn't know what to pair it with initially, but decided to pair it with my army green skirt from Lane Bryant and a white cami. I put on some Taupe pumps from Nine West (in the fashion world they would be considered nude, but since they don't match my skin tone I refer to them as taupe) and some skin colored stockings and went about my way. I always end my sentences with "and went about my way". I've got to find a new catch phrase.

Thrift Week - Day 3 1/2 - How to Wear Blue???

I got home from Church I wanted to change into something comfortable in order to go grocery shopping and run some other errands. I knew I wanted to wear this button/jacket that I thrifted last week. But I didn't know how to wear it.

I originally wanted to wear it like this, these are test shots that I took when playing dress up with my thrifting haul. The red pants and the blue jacket are both thrifted.

But then I decided it was too cold and rainy to wear open toe shoes, and I decided to just stick to one thrifted piece and just combine it with other items in my closet. Plus, I want to wear the red chinos some other day in another way. I don't know how, but I'll figure it out... So just decided to pair the jacket with these awesome jeggings from American Rag (Macy*s).

Owl Ring From Torrid - Man my hands look wrinkly in this picture!!

I've never been a fan of American Rag, as I feel it is too expensive for the quality and design of the clothing. Anyway, I didn't even realize these were American Rag until I went back to get a second pair in a darker wash. I like them because they are zip up button up so they don't slide down like other jeggings I wear. They fit like skinny jeans, which I can't wear because my calves never fit in skinny jeans. So the jeggings are essentially skinny jeans for me!! Anyway, I also got some new glasses from Costco. My smallest dog chewed on my other glasses, so I had to put tape on the sides. It was horrible. Anyway, I like these glasses much better. What do you think??

Thrift Week - Day 3 - Pink and Brown Dress

This is the dress I found thrifting a few days ago during my lunch hour. It fits perfectly.
I wore it with my Paco shoes that I got from QVC I think (or HSN one of those home shopping networks) and paired it with my new pearl necklace and earrings. I am about fed up with my hair so I put a gold scarf with pink,green and brown stripes around my hair. I actually got a compliment on this hairdo. Perhaps, she was just being nice... Anyway, this is my second Sunday going to church. We went to a new church and I was actually kinda falling a sleep during the sermon. I didn't get anything out of it, and probably won't be going back. I may try to go back to the first church I went to last Sunday and see how that goes....

My Closet is Live with Not a Price in Sight

I haven't uploaded even 1/3 of what I've got, but I am getting there, slowly but surely.

The only problem is I am not really sure the best way to price things, or how to even calculate shipping so that it is fair for both sides.

Thrift Week: Day Two - I'm Free

I love this Tshirt. I love the length, the sizing and what it says. I'm Free. It could mean so many things. I am free from society's standards of beauty, I'm free because I'm divorced, I'm free because I'm happy.... I'm free because my love don't cost a thing...

Anyway, today is my son's soccer game. I wanted to wear something comfy and also a little "different". I scored these skorts from the thrift store. They are kinda a skirt in the front although there is a split, and then the shorts in the back. It is kinda cold today so I couldn't wait to pull out my "We Love Colors" tights in purple/red. I threw on my black Rain boots from the Avenue (because I am sure it is going to be muddy out theere), grabbed a leather hoodie coat just in case it gets too breezy, and am going to go "wow" some other soccer parents..

I don't care if I don't match. I like the way this outfit makes me feel. It makes me feel free...

Clearance Colors For Autumn from Macy*s

A sparkly oversized shirt I got for $10 from

The most complicated necklace I have ever laid hands on. It took me 5 minutes to untangle it.

Everything here I got from Macy*s on clearance. (except for the nailpolish which were 2 for 99 cents).

So the prices shown on the tags aren't what I actually paid. I spent less than $65 for all of this stuff. (The bag which is 100% leather and the Anne Klein pearl necklace cost the most at $27 and $15 respectively). The pearls were too pretty too pass up, plus their original price was $50!! I also got matching pearl earrings.

I fell in love with the sequin shirt from INC, I couldn't believe so many people passed it up at $10 (It was probably a return).

As you can see, I am really into getting some color in my wardrobe. I am so sick and tired of black and grey. It is like manufacturers think those are the only two colors plus size women want to wear. I am determined to get some color in my wardrobe....so this is just the beginning.
