My Thoughts on Eloquii by the Limited
After all the hype that Eloquii by the Limited is getting, I decided to peruse their recently launched site just to see what they had to offer... Let's just say I was not impressed. Everything looks so drab and dark and plain and just not anything different than what I could get at dressbarn for $50 cheaper... The clothes are definitely geared toward a more mature crowd, they definitely don't look young. And in mature, I don';t mean 30's. I;m talking upper 40's and 50's...
One thing that also annoyed me about their "collection" was their coats... They don't have back vents... I have a butt, so I know I need a back vent to make the coat fit me better. I don't know about you guys but that is just one of my pet peeves. Plus the coats are also so drab and old looking.
And this dress has the potential to go wrong in so many ways.. I just can't see someone wearing this dress comfortably with tugging and constantly pulling at it. It's like a sheet with a fabric belt.. Sooo not impressed.
Nothing appealed to me on their site except for these few options, that I am sure EVERYONE who falls for the Eloquii hype is going to get..
First, the dress worn by GabiFresh at the Eloquii launch party.
And this little number, that really wasn't that impressive but when compared to everything else, stood out as the only other thing I would consider buying...
Eloquii is definitely not adding anything to the plus size spectrum of clothing. And they definitely do not seem to be an offshoot of the limited. They seem to be a whole different brand with a whole different constituent in mind. Someone older, who doesn't like bright colors, who works all the time, and doesn't know how to relax, and isn't that into fashion. They want to be able to pull something out of thier closet and have it match with black and go about their way... Definitely not the fatshion community that was hyping the brand so much... SOOO I am pretty disappointed in the outcome and hope that maybe over time they will expand their thinking and realize that color does not equal immaturity...

I am soooooo without you on that. I perused the site and was underwhelmed. To be honest, I feel like the line is buying into the idea that plus size women only want drab gray and black clothes in frumpy cuts. It's just not my style.
ReplyDeleteThere was a lace "little black dress" that I saw originally from the collection. I really liked it! I can't find it any more though =(
ReplyDeleteYou are correct by saying that the collection seems as though it's for older women.

I toally agree I was excited myself but Gabi pretty much wore their best piece in the collection. I hope she can really help them atleast have a better 2nd mixed collection. I was thinking working modern career woman who is not afraid of mixing patterns wearing bright colors, etc ya know office chic this is just office lol. With their price point in my I did expect a little bit of a better selection. It just makes me think about the lines that stores have come out for plus size customers soon after you hear of them tanking the line due to little interest, but really it was their designs that they released I do hope that their second collection is more youthful.

I'm with everyone else, I have been waiting forever for the site to come out and was really disappointed! There were only 1 or 2 things (that yellow dress included) that I would even consider and for the price, I don't think I'll be getting anything.
ReplyDeleteONE.BIG.FAIL in my opinion!!
